Dance as meditation
Many of us used to dance in clubs, on festivals… the time is different now, but why stop dancing? You do not have to be a ballerina or a professional dancer to try this. For me it is simple, turn on your favorite music, the music that suits your mood, and move your body – right here at home – and dance like nobody is watching!
Life itself is a dance, a moving meditation, from one moment to the next, and everything can be smooth and effortless when the transitions are done flowing and graceful manner. Therein lies the rub, transitions are not easy for most of us. Transitional times are full of uncertainty and uncertainty often triggers our fears and insecurites. We can learn to make transitions more smooth and dancing and flowing yoga practices are good examples for those graceful movements. You flow from one pose to the next or you notice if you can breathe continuously through the transitions or if you tense up and stop your breathe.
It is all about the flow, the flow of energy.
One of my favorite metaphors is also to liken our relationships to dancing. We are dancing or we have danced before because relationships are the field where one thing relates to the other and the interaction, the exchange can be smooth and graceful or not. When we are in sync, everything flows, and when we are not our communication is lacking or interrupted and our dance is out of snyc as well. The beauty about Human Design is that it lays out the mechanical principals of how we work and how our relationships work as well so we can come back into the natural flow and sometimes the natural flow is staccato…
I personally often dance before or after my yoga practice and just put on the music that resonates with me on that day and move to the beat. Music is also a beautiful accompaniment to the yoga practice and can allow you to flow more easily to the challenges you face in certain positions or in the transition between the poses.
How about putting on your favorite song and moving your body?
