Christmas Time, the prelude to the New Year
Coming out of the Christmas season, a time filled with laughter, cheer, joy, family spirit and togetherness or quite the opposite a time full of stress, overwhelm, feelings of lack, loneliness, or even despair, depending on where on the spectrum of the extremes that are possible right around Christmas you have found yourself on, we move into the time around the new year.
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day fall into a period called “The Twelve Nights of Christmas/after Christmas” or in German “Rauhnächte,” the time between sundown of the 25th of December and the 6th of January. Sometimes a few days before that, beginning with the winter solstice on the 21st of December, are also included into this magical time of deep inner reflection. Many myth and superstitions rank around this time and even if it is a time of turning inward most of us are completely immersed in the contrary, the holiday craze. It is easy to lose sight of yourself within the business of presents, decorations, parties, and whatever else is on your plate. Well, as long as you are enjoy what you are doing, this is all nice and well, the moment it becomes stressful, you might want to pause and breathe. I personally enjoy the togetherness and drawing together of this time of year and I do it without the stress. There may be less parties, less activities, and you can enjoy being present with whomever you share your journey with this year. And it may change as well, you may be with your family one year, you may be with your friends the next, or you may find yourself alone. It is your life, it is just an experience, you do not have to make it something other than it is.
My own most enjoyable Christmas I spend alone in Los Angeles, just meeting up here and there with a couple of friends while having so much alone time like I never had before. It was the time around my Saturn return and there was a lot of change happening so this time alone was amazing, rejuvenating and brought a lot of clarity and a deep surrender to the wonder of life. What a gift that was! So maybe you can go with the flow and follow your strategy and inner authority to be guided where life leads you from now on?
This year’s Christmas Eve 2018 was under the star of self-love, the Sun in gate 10.5, the heretic. So this year might have gone against the norm, against the normalcy of tradition that we are used or not. The heretic teaches us a lot about our ideal of self-love. Self love and behavior go hand in hand. “Self-love comes from living in ways that do not betray oneself.” – Barbara Brennan Hands of Light. When you love yourself, you behave in ways that are authentic to your being and that do not betray yourself.
An heretic offers “direct and overt challenge to norms” and it is grounded in extremes, the extremes of behavior that follow his own natural rhythm. Both gates (10/15) that the Sun and Earth are placed in around this time of year are deeply individual and collective energies and do not necessarily support the tribal traditions. Traditions can change and this time can be a celebration of the individual´s authenticity within the context of the family. Behavior at this time may become extreme. Individual are here to follow their own unique rhythm which again establishes the natural rhythm of the collective.
On the day after Christmas Day we entered into the realm of love of life grounded in being still. The polarity of the Sun in gate 58 and the Earth in gate 52 lead us to joy and the appreciation of being still, being still enough to be able to concentrate on something that can be mastered. We experience a drive to live life in a joyful manner, not unlike Disney Land which most can do over and over again and without losing the joy of repetition.
What is the Rave New Year?
The so called Rave New Year is reflecting the yearly cycle of the Sun and through the lense of Human Design. It is a representation of the collective experiential cycle of the world. In Human Design our New Year, the Rave New Year, does not start until the 22nd of January as it follows the movement of the Sun around the wheel of the Rave Mandala.
The Rave Year begins every year at the same place, it is a starting place, not a time. It begins when the sun enters into gate 41.1 and this follows the movement of the sun, the solar cycle, not the moon cycle. The 41st gate is special, it marks the genetic beginning of everything. The 41st gate is also called the initiating codon. Here a new solar year begins.
December 31st is New Years Eve of the Gregorian Calendar that leads us into the new calendar year on January 1st. The Gregorian Calendar is a calendar that is mainly used in the business world. The Rave New Year takes us back into the natural rhythm of the sun, the one planet besides the Earth itself, that has the deepest impact on our human experience. On a side note, the lunar year has thirteen moons or months. Especially the female body and reflectors for that matter know that the calendar most of us follow is not necessarily in tune with the internal rhythm of our bodies. Our bodies are mostly composed out of water and therefore follow the dance of the moon around the Earth, about 28,5 days for one moon cycle.
The 41st gate initiates a new cycle of collective human experience and so anyone who is alive will experience it. The Rave New Year transit gives us the storyline for the year on a collective and personal level. You can get Jovian Archive´s Just Now chart to get a snapshot of the energetic imprinting for each day. The Rave New Year Just Now chart will show you the conditioning field of the planets for the year to come. (Please be mindful that in transit charts we only look at the black, the conscious definitions because on a day to day basis that is all that we have conscious access to.)
The Rave New Year Forecast
What are transits? Transits are the depiction of planetary movements throughout time. Looking at the transits gives us insight in the planetary conditioning patterns, the influence the planets, their movements, and location have on our collective and personal lives.
If you are interested in a thorough description of the new cycle Alokanand Diaz offers in-depth description of the upcoming rave new year 2019. Dharmen and Leela are well versed teachers in this area and are wonderful guides when it comes to staying anchored and grounded within yourself while becoming wise through your openness instead of getting lost in the conditioning of this year’s cycle.
What is happening between New Year´s Eve and the Rave New Year transit-wise?
December 31st, New Year´Eve, is a time to start looking back and to reflect if the past year was purposeful and fulfilling or not. Around this time the Sun moves through the gate 38 and the Earth is grounded in gate 39 which lets us know that the closing of a cycle and life itself is about living out your purpose and the fulfillment of your spirit. Was the last cycle empowering your purpose and spirit?
When the Sun enters gate 54 and Earth is grounded in gate 53 you will be able to reflect upon the impact of the people in your life. Who has supported you and who will keep supporting you in your earthly ambitions (not your mental agendas) and your transformation and progress in the future?
“You can’t do it alone. And you can’t do it by deciding who is there in your life. One of the most important things that Human Design can bring for you in your life is to have the right person with you. To have the right people with you, to know who those beings are not because your mind has pressured you into seeing, thinking or feeling about them in certain ways. They are there because you have taken them in correctly according to who you are as a being. It is correct relationships that change everything. We are here to share awareness. We are here to commune with each other. It is our magic. It is what we’re all about.” – Ra Uru Hu
Then the Sun enters gate 61 and Earth moves onto gate 62. Give yourself time by yourself to reflect. If there is space what has worked and what has not work for you will naturally arise and become conscious. It is all in the detail and you might have a few insights along the way. And then in the next six days after that when we are already deep into January there comes the time where a natural letting go will happen (gate 60), the interconnectedness of our experiential field will become clearer so the old story will be stimulating a new storyline or a turn of events (gate 56) for the next solar cycle. Limitation is always transcended by acceptance. Following your strategy and authority will set the stage for a letting go of who and what you are not.
Taking time for yourself, slowing down, and relaxing whenever it is possible will enable the closing of the cycle to happen effortlessly. You do not have to sit down and think about it. All the reflections and introspection will happen naturally during this time when you are ready to give it space. You can just watch it happen, it is quite magical. Life presents whatever is necessary for you so you can be confronted with it, reflect upon it, and you can peacefully and successfully close out this solar year while feeling deeply fulfilled within yourself and maybe you encounter a surprise or two on this inner journey.
The Four Stages or weeks before the Rave New Year
Ra breaks down the Rave New Year into 4 sequences, and you can discover more about the first three in this video:
And the final sequence is covered here:
Are you ready to watch what life has in store for you?
Are you ready to allow life to guide you while just sitting back, enjoying yourself and watching what is falling away, what is coming to a close, and what is coming in naturally? It takes off all the pressure, all the effort, all the resistance and allows you to fall back into the flow of life… effort, strain, and resistance are sure signs that you are somehow trying to form life to what you think it is supposed to be instead of allowing in what is being served to you on a silver platter.
The transits can feel personal yet they are not. All of us experience them in our unique way. Life is an experiential process.
“Each New Year carries a unique transit configuration that imprints “The Program” (The cyclical patterned impact of the Neutrino Field to life on Earth) for the year. This imprint provides the intention of the year for the homogenization of life on planet earth. (…) The transit field always affects us – it is literally the cosmic weather. Learning to recognize the conditioning patterns that the transit field brings to your Human Design can shed light on the way in which your mind is attracted to a particular theme or story. This theme determines how your mind tries to run your life and also demand your attention in the form of your inner dialog.” – Dharmen and Leela Swann-Herbert
Similar to our relationship patterns, we also have a relationship to stars and their specific alignments and therefore their influence on us. We all react differently to what the stars bring according to our definitions and former conditionings. And similar to how we react towards the conditioning other people bring to our life we react to the unseen yet quite tangible forces of the planets. Are you ready to stop being reactive and start watching what life, people, and the planets bring to you? It is all just information. What you do with that information depends on you. Following your strategy and honoring your inner authority will guide you through the next upcoming cycle.
Have you ever noticed that New Years Resolutions never really seem to stick?
Well, first of all most of them are mental resolutions… they are not supposed to stick as they are mental concepts and nothing about them is alive. Life only supports what is alive and thriving. Dead weight will be recycled.
The Rave New Year reflects the solar cycle as the Sun is our main imprinting force. When the Human Design transit chart moves into the 41st gate on January 22nd, that is where life starts a new experiential cycle for the world every year. On December 31st and January 1st we are still in the middle of closing off last year´s experiential cycle. You can watch people with their New Year´s resolutions, they are usually able to use the enthusiasm of beginning something new to make it 2-3 weeks into the New Year until the new exercise regimen, the new diet, the new whatever the mind has dreamed up, falls apart because there was no energy behind it. And the last week of closing out the old cycle is a week of letting go so naturally these things are falling away. Instead of beating yourself up because you could not keep up “the good work,” lacked the willpower (which about 70% of the people do) to keep going, or whatever else your mind´s story about it may be, New Year’s resolutions are not something you can make happen or will into being. Also for all the people with ego definition this past year something has changed in the way they can use their willpower to make stuff happen. When you try to will something into existence or try to push something through that is not in alignment with you inner authority, it may not work anymore like it used to.
Our popular understanding is that the New Year is a time to set intentions and New Years resolutions to create a better year than the year before. So in your mind you make up what you wish for and then try to implement changes to make these wishes come true.
The Human Design perspective on the New Year and life in general is quite different. This time of year is a time for internal reflection. Reflection processes that will come about naturally. New years resolutions are just one way for the mind to plan out strategies for survival. In Human Design we look at life differently. Life provides what we need when we are living out our true nature. Our Life is meant to be purposeful and we can gain wisdom by noticing what we perceive through our openness in whatever life experiences we are presented. That is a big contrast to trying to come up with plans, goals, and solutions and trying to put them into action. Human Design leads away from all mental agendas that are based on the fear of not being able to survive.
This is one thing that we can allow our children to learn. There is no need to create mental agendas. Life is a lot more fun when we keep watching the movie. And each year we get a new one so there is no need to create excitement. Change is happening all the time. Life is doing life and we are part of it and we can watch it all play out and by being ourselves play the part we are meant to play while leading a peaceful, satisfying, successful, and surprising life. Anything can happen…
Knowing what the planets have in store for us helps us to watch instead of getting identified with all of it. If we rest in ourselves and follow our strategy and authority, it is something we can see happening around us, sometimes within us, but it stops being a driving force in our lives that finds its expression through a mentally driven life.
You can enjoy the togetherness and celebration of this time of year by keeping your mind out of it and just watching the finishing off of this year’s solar cycle…
