There is no need to raise children…children develop on their own, it is a natural process, we can facilitate or interfere with this natural unfolding of life. Life is always happening in cycles, developmental and bigger life cycles. Each personal life’s story is a cycle, being born, living your experiences, and eventually passing away. No matter what age, life is happening, with or without our awareness.
Human Design enables parents to know their child in a way that has never been there before. It allows them to support their child’s soul to incarnate into the body which then houses their unique spirit.
We all play a unique part in this cycle of life, and our children are the future… Human Design is meant for children, the parents that are ready to take a road untravelled before and the child within each of us that had no chance to flower into its natural potential. Time and time again I see the difference it makes in the lives of the children I meet and their parents as well. This is the reason I am sharing what I see unfolding in my own life and around me when Human Design is put into practice, by living out the experiment of what it means to be alive.
One of my favorite poems describes the environment that children thrive in. It is an environment of non-interference, love, and protection, an environment full of creative openness to all of life´s experiences.
On Children
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
– Kahlil Gibran
Good luck, bad luck, who knows? Life is happening and we are here to experience and share our experiences with each other, we are not here not to judge it, influence it, mold it to our liking. Coming into this world, every child is already their own unique person, and even if for a while each child is completely entwined with its mother and caregivers, children have a unique soul quality, a unique body, and a unique and individual life path before them. Only to a certain extent they can be molded and formed by their surroundings. In Human Design that is called conditioning. We as their caregivers can either influence their unfolding in a positive, supportive fashion by accentuating their already present qualities or we can stifle their natural development by trying to make them fit into our mental molds of how you are supposed to be and behave. A child´s innocence, joy, and naturalness can be an inspiration for all the people they encounter to come back to a state of surrender to life itself which in turn allows for life to become fulfilling in its own way. Satisfaction, success, inner peace along with harmonious interaction, and surprises become just an ordinary part of our life experience.
All the parents I know have the deep longing to the best they can for their children. Parents always give to the best of their abilities to their children. In general, parents want their children to have a good life, possibly even a better life than they had. Unfortunately there is something wrong with that picture. Life is life. It cannot be pressed into a cookie cutter form. Children are life´s most precious expression and we all are children ourselves, no matter how old we become. Each and every one of us is completely unique and even if we share similarities, we can never fully be the same. So what constitutes a good life for one person can be completely amiss and unnatural for someone else. Good luck, bad luck, who knows? It is just life.
We are all part of a big wheel together, each person taking a specific place within that wheel that no one else can fill. We are all part of this bigger picture, deeply connected with the people around us, and even connected to person farthest apart from us. All of us together allow the wheel to turn. As soon as someone loses their place or even worse is missing, the wheel is thrown out of kilter and the effortlessness of its movement is lost… we are all necessary, essential parts of life and so are our children.
My favorite metaphor is a chocolate birthday cake, this beautiful and delicious chocolate cake. It needs all the right ingredients in the correct measurements. One ingredient is the cocoa powder, another one dates, the next are the cashews, and yet another one is vanilla bean. If the cocoa tries to be the vanilla bean, and we leave out the dates, we are in trouble… the measurements and the qualities of the individual ingredients are off and the chocolate cake loses its taste, richness, and abundance and becomes bland or even unsavory when everything is off balance and one gets confused with the other. So if there is an ingredient or even a decorative aspect like the sprinkles missing the chocolate cake or cupcake is not the same anymore. And our personal lives are the cupcake version of that.
So our uniqueness and differences is what makes life interesting, allows us to share our unique experiences with each other, enrich each others´ lives, broaden our horizons, and enjoy coming together into the bigger picture of families, communities, and life itself.
Human Design is a unique tool that gives us the blueprint of how life expresses itself through us. We can see how someone is build, what their own unique expression of life is like, how they encounter life, how life meets them in return, and what fulfills them in their own unique way. Even if you do not know much about Human Design and there is a lot of information available, there are some easy signposts that you can follow. And unless you feel enriched by the experiential knowledge itself, there is nothing more that you need. The most important thing is you can do nothing wrong, life is happening every moment with or without our conscious participation. There is nothing to do and therefore nothing to do wrong and so much to gain. The more you can fall back into your own nature, the more your child will naturally be able to be themselves.
In Human Design there is a very important catchphrase.
Follow your strategy and honor your inner authority!
By finding out your child’s type, you learn how their aura, their overall energetic field interacts with the world, their surroundings, and you. So you know how they meet the world and the world and you can meet them in return without creating resistance, frustration, anger, unhappiness, and disappointment:
Be respectful and friendly with your manifestor child and teach them manners by being an example. Allow them to roam free within the safety of boundaries you set according to their age and abilities and allow them what is possible for you to allow when they ask permission. They will grow into strong, confident, self-sufficient beings that know when and who to inform in the moment that life that pushes through them to make something happen.
Invite your projector to things and activities this particular projector child can enjoy. They are not meant to work, some have energy to play with, most of them will be very happy when they are included to help you out and guide you by sharing what they see when you invite them to do so, so please invite them when you have energy for them and are open to their seeing. That allows them to learn to enjoy their extraordinary perceptive qualities and find their role in this world.
Ask your generator/manifesting generator child yes-/no-question so it can respond from the moment that they are born. Allow them to follow their response so they learn how to maintain healthy boundaries and what is really fulfilling for them. Their life-force has a unique way to express itself in word or action and he or she can only get to know themselves when they are unrestricted in their receptive dance with life itself. The will build and create and be quite happy while doing so.
Allow your reflector child to be in the middle of what is happening without necessarily having to participate and bring it outside so it can marvel at the beauty of the natural world and the cosmic forces. Play with them so they can find their unique rhythm with the moon cycle.
Children’s inner authority, their inner guidance system, can be a little trickier in some cases. In about 50% of the cases you will encounter an emotional authority. Any emotional being (everyone who has the solarplexus or emotional center defined) needs time and space to become clear what is correct for them. Most others will know in the moment either through splenic body awareness or a sacral sound or reaction what is correct for them and what is not. If you are interested to learn a little more about the different inner authorities, you can take a look at my page that gives a short overview on the possible inner authorities. It is important to honor your child’s inner authority as well as your own so the child can develop a reliable internal resource to make decision for itself later on in life.
Our children’s innocence, their trust in life, their playfulness, and their creativity can inspire us to find back into our own nature. When we allow our children to be themselves, to be who they are meant to be, to live out their unique blueprint, they become beautiful, enriching participants in our life’s story. Life itself and all of our individual lives are in a constant evolutionary process, so it is actually our children who take us by the hand and guide the way into the future because they come through us and are the future.
Are you ready to trust your child´s innocence and natural wisdom on how to live life and follow him or her back into yourSelf and into the future?
